Auntie Helen’s 60th Birthday

A 60th birthday celebration is a very special milestone indeed, especially when it is for someone as special as Auntie Helen.  She is always the first to pitch in and help others, whether it is for her family and friends or even for her church; she’s always there to lend a helping hand.  With her usually being the one to plan events for others, her husband and son wanted to surprise her and do something extra special this year.

Not only did they want to surprise her once, but TWICE in one day to be exact!  Kudos to the boys for planning the dinner part of her day long festivities all on their own.  They found the location and invited all of their family and friends.  However, about a week before the surprise, they came to us and asked if we could plan something more intimate for Auntie Helen and her girlfriends.  The first thing that came to mind….tea party!

Fortunately, we were able to make reservations for a party of 20 on such a short notice.  We worked with the owner of the tea house to provide us with the food, but we brought in our own personal touches with colorful pom poms, personalized menus, cake ball favors to make it extra special for the birthday girl.  Since the tea house itself already has its own decors, we worked around their color scheme and just made it a bit more colorful for our party.

Bob tricked Auntie Helen and told her they were going to see an Accountant.  To her surprise, she walked into a room filled with some of the closest ladies in her life, from childhood friends to old coworkers.  The surprised look on her face was priceless and by the time she made it around to her seat, she was in awed by all the decorations.

At the end of the tea party, each lovely lady took home with her a take out box of red velvet cake balls to go along with their tea sachet. Everyone departed from the tea house, making Auntie Helen think that was the end of her birthday celebrations. Little did she know, she was surprised (once again) a few hours later by another group of 60, from her family to church friends, everyone was there to celebrate the special evening with her!  Tears rolled down her face as she was thanking us, but seeing her so happy just confirms why we love doing what we do!
